Queen For A Day in Plymouth

Holiday Memories 2011 at the Sheboygan County Historical Museum

For over 50 years, crowds gasped in awe on Thanksgiving Day when Sheboygan based Prange’s Department Store launched the holiday season with the unveiling of their animated window displays. Dolls and warm fuzzy animals waved hello to children, while beautifully decorated windows invited the public in to see the wonders of the holiday season. Holiday Gathering Christmas Parade in Plymouth

Downtown businesses start off the holiday shopping season with deals and treats throughout the day. The annual Chili Cookoff is held from 4 pm to 7 pm with holiday parade to follow. The night-time lighted parade features local organizations, bands, choral groups, businesses, floats, equestrian units and much more! Join Fritz and Duane as they travel up ‘nort’ to get away from it all, and wind up crossing paths with a magical talking deer! Fritz Dingleheimer is a fairly straightforward guy and an experienced, serious hunter. Duane Puddles, on the other hand, is anything but a hunter. He goes on the trip because he wants to marry Fritz’ daughter and hopes to get his approval, while using this as an opportunity to do some male bonding. Duane is sensitive and likes to read self-help books. He likes to “share” and hug, and he struggles with the idea that he has to kill “Bambi’s brudda.” This deer hunting musical promises more bang for your buck! In light of all the buzz surrounding the image of a Wisconsin-shaped mitten on TravelWisconsin.com and its social media sites, the Sheboygan County Visitor Centers and Chambers of Commerce are participating in a state-wide Travel Wisconsin Welcome Center Mitten Collection Campaign. Mittens will be collected in Elkhart Lake, Plymouth, Sheboygan, Sheboygan Falls and Random Lake. The mittens will then be donated to local charities. Elkhart Lake invites you to donate new or gently used mittens by January 15, 2012.

The tourism partners in Sheboygan County are excited to participate in this campaign.
There has been a lot of national excitement surrounding the debate over whether Wisconsin or Michigan looks more like a mitten. Our Pure Michigan friends have agreed to join Wisconsin in taking all of this attention and turning it into something positive.
