Kohler Company Plays Host to 2010 Major Championships.  Kohler Hospitality & Real Estate Group Prepares for 2010 Open in St. Andrews and 2010 PGA Championship in Kohler

The Kohler Co. Hospitality & Real Estate Group is planning a remarkable year this year. The American Club and The Old Course Hotel Golf are preparing to play host to the world’s best golfers and special guests during two major golf championships. The 150th 2010 Open Championship (July 15-18) on the Old Course in St. Andrews, Scotland and The 92nd PGA Championship (August 12-15) returning to The Straits at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin will test golfers within a few weeks of each other.

“We can say with a modest degree of confidence that the Kohler Co. is the first entity to have two resort outlets act as the host-hotel to two major golf championships in one calendar year. During The Open, players will literally be hitting over The Old Course Hotel leading up to the final hole,” said Herb Kohler, Chairman and CEO of Kohler Co. “The opportunity to put two of Kohler’s resort properties on the world’s stage – two times in two different countries within one month – is incalculable.”

The year may also prove to be record breaking as Tiger Woods may beat Jack Nicklaus’s record for most championship wins. Tiger Woods may tie the record of 18 wins at the 2010 Open on the Old Course or has the opportunity again to tie and/or break the record at The 2010 PGA Championship at Whistling Straits. Tiger Woods has been victorious at the last two Open Championships played on the Old Course on the last two occasions in 2000 and 2005.

“The 2004 PGA Championship at Whistling Straits grossed record breaking ticket sales,” comments Jim Richerson, Group Director of Kohler Golf. “With the possibility of a tie or record-breaking final day there may be more than one record broken at the 2010 PGA Championship.”

Championship tickets and hotel packages are available for both the 2010 Open Championship at The Old Course Hotel and the 2010 PGA Championship in Kohler, Wisconsin.

The PGA Championship is one of the premier golf events conducted by The PGA of America, a list that includes the Ryder Cup, the Senior PGA Championship and the PGA Grand Slam of Golf, which brings together winners of golf’s four major championships.

By establishing and elevating the standards of the golf profession through world-class education, career services, marketing and research programs, the Association enables PGA Professionals to maximize their performance in their respective career paths and showcases them as experts in the game and in the multi-billion dollar golf industry.

By creating and delivering dramatic world-class championships and exciting and enjoyable golf promotions that are viewed as the best of their class in the golf industry, The PGA of America elevates the public’s interest in the game, the desire to play more golf, and ensures accessibility to the game for everyone, everywhere. The PGA of America brand represents the very best in golf.

Whistling Straits

Founded in 1998, Whistling Straits emulates the great old seaside links courses of the British Isles, invoking an image of the game founded more than 400 years ago. The Straits Course is open with rugged and windswept terrain. The site of its second PGA Championship (2004 PGA Championship), Whistling Straits will also host the 2015 PGA Championship and the 2020 Ryder Cup.
