The story of Ebenezer Scrooge’s redemption has not only become a holiday tradition but a reminder of the importance of charity and mercy toward humankind. The heartwarming tale depicts Scrooge, whose values are focused exclusively on profit, and his conflicts with the struggling Cratchit family, whose tragic problems typified the working class during the Industrial Revolution in Victorian England. The touching climax is based on Dickens’ belief that the ills of a greedy world can be healed by brotherhood and unselfishness.
While the story is no doubt very familiar to audiences, Plymouth Arts Center Theatre Company’s Drama Chair and Director, Kerrylynn Kraemer-Curtiss, chose John Mortimer’s adaptation to surprise and delight audiences. The show features a spirited ensemble of 30 performers including adults and enchanting children, clever, special effects, and a chorus singing traditional Christmas carols. The perfect Christmas Carol production includes a truly great Scrooge and Chris Fontaine proves he can “Bah Humbug” with the best of them. Other cast members include: Greg Heberlein, Nicole Lett, Kieran Kraemer-Curtiss, Don Held, Lorraine Selinski, Charlie Heup, Joanna Heup, Denise Wilson, Bill Heberlein, Mikey Ambrowiak, Hannah Anhalt, Nan Gibson, Alan Fett, Rebecca Franzen, Keeley Kuru, Wendy, Emily and JaLynn Schuh, Chandler Haun, Bonnie Jaeger, Lynn Schultz, Emily Schwartz, Dan Mahlendorf, Angi Mahlendorf, Toddianna Kraemer-Curtiss, Joe Selinski, Maggie Munson, Bianca Rayne Bonde, Kailie Wachuta, Michellelena Kraemer-Curtiss, Delaney Scudella, Camille Kraemer-Curtiss, Quinn Kraemer-Curtiss, Tehya Wachuta and Kerrylynn Kraemer-Curtiss.
